Godh bharai, baby shower, seemantham — whatever your family calls it, the decoration serves the same purpose: to make the mother-to-be the centre of a room full of people. Here is the checklist we use for these setups in Patna.
Four weeks before
- Fix the date early. Baby showers cluster in the seventh and eighth month, and so do the weekend slots. Saturdays in particular go first.

Two weeks before
- Choose the seat. A baby shower has one fixed focal point: where the mother sits. A decorated chair or a small swing is what everyone photographs. Decide this before anything else.
- Measure the wall behind that seat. Send us a photo with a person standing against it — that tells us the height better than any measurement.
- Confirm the ritual list. If there is a thali, a chunri ceremony or a bangle ritual, tell us — we keep a clear table space for it rather than covering everything in balloons.
- Book the setup. 35% advance holds the date; the balance is paid after the decoration is done.
One week before
- Tell us the mother’s outfit colour. This is not a small detail. The backdrop should contrast with it, not match it.
- Plan the light. Afternoon showers need almost nothing; evening ones need warm lights behind the backdrop. Confirm a working plug point.
- Arrange seating for elders. Chairs get pushed to the edges during the rituals — leave a path.
- If you are outside Patna, confirm this now. Out-of-town bookings must be placed at least one day in advance, and an 18% convenience charge is added to the booking.
On the day
- We arrive 2 to 3 hours before the guests. Keep the room empty of furniture you do not want in the photos.
- Keep one person free to answer our decorator’s questions — not the mother-to-be.
- Take the family group photo early, while the setup is untouched and everyone’s clothes are still crisp.
